Vkplus tests every patch cord connector and applies a barcode traceable system. The aim of this testing procedure is to make sure that every patch cord is in best condition before delivery. The barcode system also stores information about the materials used and the manufacturing process applied to produce the patch cord. Vkplus’s polishing process ensures consistently low insertion and return loss values. Insertion and return loss values are affected by the endface geometries of the fiber connector. Vkplus’s fiber assemblies meet Telcordia® GR-326 industry requirements for quality and performance.
1) Ferrule Surface Inspection
Every connector is inspected with 400x microscope to ensure there is no visible scratch on the fiber. In reality what we see is a two dimensional view of a three dimensional object as shown in figure 1. The end face should be clear and clean.

The connector end face shown in figure 1 meets these criteria. In order to view the end face in three dimensions requires the use of an additional test set called an interferometer.
2) Insertion Loss Test
Tested in accordance with the GR-326-CORE, the maximum insertion loss shall not exceed 0.3dB against master connector. Vkplus typical value is less than 0.2dB.

3).Topography Measurement for Ferrule
Controlling connector end-face geometry is key to assuring network reliability, radius of curvature, fiber height, apex offset, fiber and ferrule roughness are the most critical parameters that affect long-term connector performance. Vkplus can promise 100% pass the interferometer test for its entire fiber optic patch cords, fiber pigtails etc. when needed.
Our interferometer can display an accurate measurement of radius of curvature, fiber height, apex offset, fiber and ferrule roughness. Sample checked by our QC manager could make sure all the critical parameters are within specifications defined by international organizations. One interferometric quality control report would be provided free of charge per 400 terminations for General Patchcord and every termination for Measurement/ Reference Patchcord.
